So we can't tell you whether someone in Halifax or Québec City can open an 888casino account today, and we won't guess. Who runs the Ontario site

VHL Ontario Limited. That's the entity in the iGaming Ontario directory, and the same one appears on Alberta's registrant list.

The AGCO does not publish registration numbers in that directory, and neither does iGO, so the registration number is unverified. What you can verify yourself in thirty seconds is whether the site you're on is the one iGO lists. Check the address bar for 888casino.ca, and look for the iGaming Ontario mark in the footer. The iGO operator directory is public.

For scale: the directory listed 49 operators and 84 gaming websites as of 1 Sep 2026. 888 is one name among many now, not the default it might have been fifteen years ago. Competition is good for players. It also means copycat domains, so the address bar check is not paranoia.

Why bother? Because Ontario's regulated market only protects you on regulated sites. An international 888 domain reached through a VPN is not the same product, and the AGCO can't help you with it.

The older history (888 Holdings, the long list of studios, the awards) filled most of our 2023 review. It reads like a museum label now. The point that matters in 2026 is the Ontario registration, so that's what this page is built around.

Why there's no bonus figure on this page

Ontario's rules, not our choice. Well, partly our choice too.

The AGCO's Standard 2.05 bans public advertising of bonuses, credits and other inducements for regulated iGaming sites. That covers affiliate pages like this one. Offers can be shown on the operator's own site or app, or sent directly to players who have agreed to receive them on the Ontario site. So if 888casino.ca runs a welcome offer, you'll see it after you land there, and that's where you should read its terms.

Our 2023 title led with a bonus. That page was written for a different market and under different rules. We dropped the number.

Honestly? It's a better system. A review that can't lead with a bonus has to talk about the casino.

Casino, poker, sportsbook: the 888 family

888 is unusual in Ontario because the brand covers three products with separate regulated sites: 888casino.ca, 888poker.ca and 888sport.ca, all under VHL Ontario Limited.

For the casino itself, the 2026 game list, studios, live dealer tables and any in-house titles are check on site. The brand historically built some of its own games, which our 2023 page made a lot of; whether those are in the Ontario lobby today, we didn't verify.

Paying in and cashing out

Payment methods, minimum deposit, withdrawal limits and payout times on 888casino.ca: check on site. The Ontario site blocked or redirected our checks, so we couldn't read the cashier.

Expect identity checks early on a regulated site, so have your ID and an address document ready. Then read the cashier before you deposit. In particular, look at whether Interac e-Transfer works both ways, and at any pending period on withdrawals.

The bank side is the same as anywhere. Your Interac daily limit belongs to your bank, and it tends to run dry at the worst moment, usually the evening after you also paid for hockey tickets. Interac with Desjardins and Banque Nationale accounts is on our editorial test list; nothing to report yet.

Alberta: registered company, unconfirmed casino

Alberta's regulated market opened on 13 Jul 2026, run by the AGLC with the Alberta iGaming Corporation. VHL Ontario Limited appears on the AGLC registrant list as an iGaming operator, with an expiry date of 13 Jul 2027. Trade press reported that 888poker registered in the province.

What we could not confirm is a live 888casino site for Albertans. The registrant list doesn't say which brands an entity runs. If you're in Calgary or Edmonton, check the AGLC's list of operating sites before opening an account, and see our Alberta page. Age there is 18+.

Limits, self-exclusion and help in Ontario

Regulated sites in Ontario come with tools that offshore sites don't have to offer.

The big one is BetGuard. Since 14 May 2026, iGaming Ontario runs a centralized self-exclusion that covers every regulated site at once. Before that, excluding meant doing it brand by brand. Now one sign-up covers 888casino.ca and all the others.

Deposit and time limits on the 888 account itself: check on site. Whatever is there, set it on day one, when you're calm. Not at 1 a.m. after a run of bad hands.

Who 888casino.ca suits, and who it doesn't

It suits Ontario players who want an established name under provincial rules and like having casino, poker and sports from one company. It also suits anyone who has been burned by an offshore site before and wants the AGCO behind the account. That's not nothing.

It doesn't suit you if you're outside Ontario and want certainty today. We can't give it, and a regulated Ontario account won't work from Montréal or Moncton anyway, because location checks stop you at the provincial border. Nor is it the place for anyone hunting the biggest headline offer; Ontario doesn't do headline offers in public, by design.

One thing people forget: the Ontario site checks where you are, not where you live. A Torontonian at the cottage in Muskoka is fine. The same person visiting family in Gatineau is not, even though the drive is shorter than some Toronto commutes.

How we checked

We read the iGaming Ontario directory (accurate as of 1 Sep 2026) and the AGLC registrant export on 14 Oct 2026, and tried the operator's Canadian and international sites. The sites redirected our checks, so lobby, cashier and support details remain check on site.

Our take

If you're in Ontario and you want a long-established brand with casino, poker and sports under one company, 888casino.ca is a legitimate, regulated choice. That's the part we can stand behind.
