A bank-linked account, not a card
Instadebit sits between your Canadian bank account and the casino. You open an Instadebit account, connect your bank, and use it to pay merchants that accept it. The casino sees an Instadebit payment, not your banking details.
Money in comes from your bank. Money out from the casino goes back through Instadebit to you. All in Canadian dollars, which matters more than people think when half the bonus banners on these sites were shown to us in euros (amounts shown to us in euros; confirm the C$ figure in the cashier).
Setup takes a few minutes the first time and asks for personal details plus your bank connection. Instadebit's own limits and fees are set by Instadebit and depend on your account, so they're check on site, on their side. None of the casinos on our list publishes an Instadebit fee.
What "24–48 hours" actually covers
Not the whole trip.
The published window starts when the casino releases the payment. Before that comes the pending period. Lucky Nugget runs 24 hours of pending on every cashout, so the realistic best case there is closer to two to three days from request to Instadebit balance. Then moving it from Instadebit to your bank is a separate step with its own timing.
So why bother? Because a clear window is still better than "check on site", and because the alternatives aren't faster on paper. Visa at the same casinos is listed at 1 to 3 business days. eCheck, 1 to 3 business days too.
A first withdrawal is slower almost everywhere. The Baytree group, which runs both casinos that publish the Instadebit window, requires ID checks at €2,000 in single or cumulative transactions and can ask for proof of address and proof that the Instadebit account is yours. Do that before you need the money. Not during the third period of a playoff game when you've just remembered you meant to cash out on Friday.
There's also a ceiling that rarely matters: 10,000 per 24 hours, written in GBP or equivalent in Baytree's terms, and a possible €4,000 weekly limit for players who withdraw five or more times their lifetime deposits.
A Friday-night cashout, on paper
Let's run the published numbers once, slowly. This is an illustration built from Lucky Nugget's own figures, not a test we ran.
You request C$200 to Instadebit on a Friday at 8 p.m. The 24-hour pending period ends Saturday at 8 p.m. (many casinos let you reverse a pending request back into your balance; whether Lucky Nugget does is check on site, and either way that option is a temptation). Then the 24–48 hour Instadebit window starts. Best case, the money lands in Instadebit on Sunday evening; worst published case, Monday evening. Then you move it to your bank.
Now add a first-withdrawal ID check. If documents weren't uploaded beforehand, the clock effectively stops until they're approved, and the terms don't promise how long that takes.
Two days or five. Same casino, same method. The difference is almost entirely paperwork and calendar.
We'd also flag the reverse-withdrawal habit, because it's the quiet cost of any pending period. Money sitting in "pending" for 24 hours is money one click away from going back into a slot. If you find yourself cancelling withdrawals, that's a signal, and the responsible gambling page has the tools and numbers.
Whether these hours count weekends at all is not stated on the payment page. Check on site; we'd assume business days to be safe, and be pleasantly surprised otherwise.

Jackpot City is our pick if Instadebit is your method. It's on the Canadian payment page in black and white, unlike iDebit there, which only appears as a homepage logo. Visit Jackpot City. Lucky Nugget is the low-entry option, with a big caveat on wagering we cover on the C$1 deposit page.
When Instadebit is the wrong pick
Honestly? If Interac works for you and you only play at one site, Instadebit adds a step for no real gain.
It earns its place in three situations. Your bank's e-Transfer limit keeps running out, usually the same week rent is due. The casino you've chosen publishes Instadebit payout times and not Interac ones (Jackpot City, Lucky Nugget). Or you'd like casino money to sit in an account that isn't your chequing account, which some people find helps them keep track.
It doesn't help with bonuses. The wagering stays the same whatever you deposit with, and whether an offer excludes certain payment methods is check on site. It doesn't skip verification. And it doesn't change Baytree's clause 1.1.10, which lets the casino pay winnings in euros whatever your account currency. We think that clause is bad for Canadian players and we'll keep pointing at it.
The sibling method is iDebit. Same idea, different company, listed at 24–28 hours at Lucky Nugget. Compare all of them on the payments hub, or go straight to Interac if you'd rather keep things simple.
Setting up and depositing
The whole thing, start to finish, the first time.
Choose Instadebit in the casino cashier. A window opens; if you don't have an account yet, you create one and link your Canadian bank. Confirm the amount. Return to the casino. Balance updated. Next time, you sign in to Instadebit and skip the setup.
If the window asks for something that looks like your online banking password, read the address bar before typing anything. Payment pop-ups are a favourite target for look-alike pages, and a ten-second check costs nothing. Close it and start again from the casino cashier if anything looks off.
One detail to check before depositing: whether the casino will pay back to Instadebit. At Jackpot City and Lucky Nugget the published payout time answers that. At Spin and Royal Vegas, look at the withdrawal options in the cashier first.
And use the casino's deposit limit tool, not Instadebit's balance, as your budget. A wallet makes topping up easier, which is the point of a wallet and also the problem with one. If it stops being fun: Jeu : aide et référence, 514 527-0140 or 1 800 461-0140, free and confidential. 18+ in Québec and Manitoba, 19+ in most other provinces. Frequently asked questions

Jackpot City and Lucky Nugget publish 24–48 hours. Add the casino's pending period (24 hours at Lucky Nugget) and any first-time ID checks.
Which casinos accept Instadebit in Canada?
On our list: Jackpot City, Lucky Nugget, Spin Casino and Royal Vegas. Tooniebet doesn't offer it.
Is Instadebit the same as iDebit?
No. They're separate Canadian bank-linked services. They work in a similar way and are listed by the same Baytree casinos.
Can I use Instadebit in Ontario?
Not at the casinos on this page; they exclude Ontario and Alberta. Ontario players should see our Ontario page for iGaming Ontario brands.
