Double Zero Roulette (Playtech): Free Online Play in Canada

Start with the edge

5.26%. That's the cost of the extra zero, on every standard bet.

Here's the arithmetic, because it's short. A straight-up bet pays 35:1, but there are 38 pockets. Over 38 spins at C$1 you stake C$38 and get back C$36 on average. Two dollars out of 38: 5.26%. Return to player, 94.74%.

The five-number bet, where it appears, is worse: 7.89%. It pays 6:1 for five numbers, when a fair price would be closer to 6.6:1.

A single-zero wheel keeps 2.70%. Nearly half. That's the most important fact on this page, and the rest is detail.

How the table plays

Place chips on the layout, spin, get paid if the ball lands on your numbers. Zero and double zero are both green; when either hits, red/black, odd/even and the other outside bets lose.

The layout carries a slot for 00 next to 0 at the top. Some double-zero tables add the five-number bet covering 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3; check whether Playtech's version shows it.

The 2023 page wrapped this game in phrases like "unlimited entertainment". We'd put it differently: unlimited in demo, budgeted in real play. The game info also lists table limits; casinos set those.

Why would someone pick this wheel? Some players come from US casinos and like the familiar layout. Some simply click the first roulette tile they see. It happens; Winnipeg in February makes everyone a little impatient.

Payout table

Same payouts as a single-zero wheel. That's precisely why the edge goes up: one more way to lose, nothing extra when you win.

Tip: choose the wheel before the bet

The biggest decision you make in roulette isn't red or black. It's which wheel you sit at.

If a single-zero table is available, the same stake costs about half as much in expected terms. See European Roulette or, better still for even-money bets, French Roulette.

Honestly, we don't love this wheel. Not because it's a bad game, it plays exactly like roulette should. It just charges more for the same thing.

If you stay on double zero for the fun of it, fine: flat stakes, skip the five-number bet, and set a time limit. Nothing beats the edge long term.

RNG vs live

This is a random-number-generator game; the free demo exists because nothing physical is spinning. Results are independent from spin to spin.

The demo is also a good place to see the second zero in action. Play 200 spins on red and count how often green shows up. You'll see roughly ten zeros, give or take, and each one took your bet.

Live double-zero wheels exist at some studios, real money only, at the same 5.26%. Live is slower, which, for a high-edge wheel, isn't a bad thing for your budget. See our live casino guide.

Where to play from Canada

Québec-accessible casinos with French menus include Spin Casino, Yukon Gold and Tooniebet. Playtech isn't in every lobby and we did not confirm this title at any of them. Search, and check the provider in game info.

All three list Interac. Tooniebet's 20x wagering is the gentlest of the three; Yukon Gold's first-deposit offer is 200x. Whether roulette counts toward either is in the terms, and many casinos weight it low. Bonus money and a 5.26% wheel aren't a great pair anyway.
